Former Top Chef Contestants Bring New Breakfast & Lunch Spot to OTR
CINCINNATI (May 7, 2024) – A sandwich shop that will also serve as the commissary kitchen for Crown Restaurant Group, Young Buck Deli will celebrate the grand opening of its Vine Street storefront Friday at 8 AM. The deli, which is operated by culinary duo Brian & Caitlin Young, will serve both breakfast and lunch and is conveniently situated at 1332 Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine.
The Young’s met while participating in Cincinnati Magazine’s Savor Series. Coincidentally, the first course they ever did together was a sandwich. Young Buck’s menu will include a variety of savory sandwiches on house-made focaccia, like the Mortadella Sandwich, made with mortadella and stracciatella cheeses and pistachio cream, the Boston 3-Way – a love note to Brian’s hometown made with rare roast beef, barbecue sauce, fried onions, white American cheese and mayo, and breakfast options like the Biscuit Sandwich – all-butter biscuits, molasses & black pepper bacon or sage breakfast sausage, pimento cheese and a sunny-side-up egg. Aside from sandwiches, the deli will offer house and Caesar salads, pasta salad, potato salad and pimento cheese.
“We feel so fortunate to open Young Buck in the heart of OTR,” Caitlin said. “The community here is second to none and we’re surrounded by fellow small businesses – and awesome places to hold meetings! We’re specifically fond of 1215 Wine Bar and Bee’s Barbecue, but we’ve come to know and love all of our neighbors on Vine Street. We are so proud and excited to be here and to bring the people of Cincinnati the sandwiches they deserve!”
Though all food items will be built to-go, Young Buck features 14 seats along an L-shaped bar for folks looking to dine in. However, in the interest of reducing its carbon footprint, the deli will not offer plates or silverware. The space also features white subway tile floors, the building’s original exposed brick and crisp white paint throughout with pops of blue paint here and there. To bring their vision to life, the Youngs worked with local design firm, Dust Village. The firm’s owner, Jake Staubitz, played a critical role in getting the aesthetics and other creative aspects of the space just right.
“We continue to see the demand for lunch options rising as more employees return to the office in the urban core, so we’re thrilled to have Young Buck opening now to meet that need and activate this key storefront on Vine Street,” said Lindzie Gunnels, Director of Commercial Leasing for 3CDC.
Young Buck will feature daily sandwich specials or discounts five days a week, including items not typically available on the menu. This week’s specials will include:
- MONDAY – Industry Day Discount (includes sandwich, side, soda)
- TUESDAY – Tuna Melt (olive oil-poached tuna, lemon, celery, oregano, provolone, focaccia, kosher pickle)
- THURSDAY – Chicago Italian Beef (roast beef, giardiniera, provolone, Italian bread)
- FRIDAY – Chicken Parm (crispy chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, basil, spicy marinara)
- SATURDAY – Bagel-O-Rama (flavors change weekly)
Young Buck will be open six days per week (closed on Sundays) from 8 AM until 3 PM – unless they sell out sooner. Breakfast sandwiches will be offered from 8 AM to 10 AM only. After hours, the sandwich shop will serve as the butchering and pasta commissary for all Crown Restaurant Group restaurants.
