Founder of RilEntertainment Signs Lease for 3CDC Space
CINCINNATI (April 12, 2024) – A familiar name on the Cincinnati entertainment scene, Orlando “Lando” Chapman, Sr., recently signed a lease for a 3,580-square-foot space at Cincinnati Center City Development Corp.’s (3CDC) 4th & Race development. Chapman, who is most well-known for his Old School Happy Hour event, will open self-service wine bar ‘Something to Wine About’ later this year.
A popular trend in places like New Orleans, the wine bar will feature self-pour wine machines in addition to a full-service bar. Patrons will simply purchase a reloadable card when they arrive, and then swipe the card to use the self-service machines. The upscale bar will have a laid-back atmosphere, offering finger foods, like charcuterie and pinwheel sandwiches, in addition to wine and spirits. Something to Wine About will host a book club and will also feature live performances by national recording artists, as well as up-and-coming jazz and old-school R&B musicians.
“I’ve hosted numerous events downtown, and it’s hard to find a good-sized space with ample parking to accommodate this type of concept,” said Chapman. “But this space has both. The vibe will be like Downtown Manhattan meets South Beach.”
Chapman plans to highlight African American and other minority-owned winemakers with a dedicated section of the menu coined ‘The Darker the Berry, the Sweeter the Juice.’ Monthly “Wine-O” memberships will be available for purchase in two classes – the Bottle Club and the Noir Wine Club. Memberships include a number of perks like red, white, rose, sparkling and fortified wines from their in labels, merchandise discounts, exclusive event access and more. Members will also have the opportunity to take advantage of a special ‘Wine-O’ area for regulars.
“3CDC has been partnering with Lando on hosting diverse, engaging events at our civic spaces for many years, so it’s exciting to expand on that relationship and work with him to activate a commercial space, as well,” said Lindzie Gunnels, Director of Commercial Leasing with 3CDC. “Something to Wine About will add vibrancy and activity to the southwest corner of Downtown, and is also a win for the minority winemakers and musicians that will be promoted in the space. Lando has a 30-year history as a successful promoter and has become widely known as a springboard for talent and helping business owners increase their footprint.”
Chapman recently celebrated the upcoming wine bar with a groundbreaking ceremony. Something to Wine About joins LoVe Nightclub, Paris Baguette and bb.q in the 4th & Race mixed-use development, which consists of a 584-space above grade parking garage and 264-unit apartment building in addition to the 22,000-square-feet of street-level commercial space. The wine bar is currently being built out and is slated to open this fall. Grand Opening plans will be announced at a later date.
