Former Corporate Accountant Leaves Workforce to Fuel Her Passions
CINCINNATI (November 17, 2023) – M.T.A.P. Clothing, a women’s retail brand, will celebrate the official grand opening of its Over-the-Rhine shop tomorrow at 3 PM. Located at 1513 Vine Street, the 580-square-foot space being leased from Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC) for the holiday season – and potentially for the long term. Owner Dani Jay uses the fashion brand to inspire all women to rise above the gender roles implied by society.
In addition to a degree in fashion, Jay earned her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana Wesleyan University and went on to climb the corporate ladder at one of the world’s leading digital industrial multinational conglomerates. Eventually, she earned the title of Lead Accountant. However, she found herself unfulfilled and wanted to use her voice to make an impact and do more.
“One day, I placed a bulk order of t-shirts, came up with a motto I felt strongly about, and launched M.T.A.P,” Jay said. “I can’t wait to introduce my brand, and all that it stands for, to the neighborhood. There are so many strong businesswomen in OTR and it’s exciting to have the opportunity to work alongside them, empowering other women to follow their dreams.”
Jay ultimately left her corporate role to pursue her clothing brand and never looked back. Using her own fashion experience, Jay has built a clothing brand made up of quality pieces characterized by uncommon elements, like rhinestones, that reflect her own eccentric style. The brand includes two individual collections – the Cincy Collection, which features Cincinnati sportswear and athletic gear, and the M.T.A.P. Collection, which features t-shirts, hoodies, hats, accessories and more complete with her trademark logo.
“We’re excited to be filling this vacant storefront on Vine Street with a great retailer for the holiday season,” said Lindzie Gunnels, Commercial Leasing Manager with 3CDC. “We love the energy and passion she has in building her brand and look forward to seeing how it continues to grow here in OTR.”
Jay will celebrate the official grand opening of M.T.A.P.’s pop-up shop tomorrow beginning at 3 PM and all are invited to attend. In addition to shopping, attendees will enjoy food & drinks, discounts and giveaways. Anyone who spends $50 or more will also receive a free, limited-edition t-shirt.
M.T.A.P.’s regular operating hours are Tuesday thru Thursday 11 AM – 7 PM, Friday 11 AM – 8 PM, and Saturday 11 AM – 9 PM. In addition to the pop-up storefront, M.T.A.P. apparel can also be purchased online.
