Pop Culture Merch and Gift Shop Coming to OTR

Online Boutique Owner Set to Open in Brick-and-Mortar Space

CINCINNATI (August 15, 2024) – Originally started as a pandemic pastime, Livia Ganshirt recently signed a lease to bring her online boutique, Pop Cultur’d Co., to a brick-and-mortar space located at 6 W. 12^th Street in Over-the-Rhine (OTR). Ganshirt is leasing the 700-square-foot space from Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC).

After graduating from Northern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and entrepreneurship, Ganshirt recognized a lack of options for ‘fan merch’ – merchandise or goods sold to fans of a particular band, film, sports team or other entity. She began crafting and selling her own and, eventually, her online business took off.

“I just didn’t see a lot of fan merch available – and what was available wasn’t cute,” Ganshirt said. “So, I started making my own. What I make is ‘by a fan for a fan’ and, based on my own style and preferences, I feel like I have a good understanding of what people are looking for.”

Pop Cultur’d Co. carries a variety of t-shirts and sweatshirts in addition to accessories and décor including stickers, puzzles, wall art, prints, posters and more. She uses both sublimation and ink-dye techniques to make the shirts, as well as embroidery. Her collection includes pop stars and celebrities like Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, as well as iconic TV shows like Gilmore Girls and Friends. However, new options are continuously made available based on changes in current pop culture.

“This is such a fun concept that we are excited to have right here in OTR,” said Lindzie Gunnels, Director of Commercial Leasing with 3CDC. “It really adds to the variety of retailers in the neighborhood, with a diverse range of small shops within walking distance of Pop Cultur’d’s new space.”

The store will be set up as an open concept, with Ganshirt’s machinery situated where patrons can see her making shirts. She is planning a soft opening for Friday, Aug. 16, when anyone is welcome to come shop and check out the space from 11 AM to 7 PM. Pop Cultur’d will celebrate its official grand opening Saturday, Sept. 7, hosting a permanent jewelry pop-up by Other Perfect Things in the store.
