CINCINNATI CONVENTION CENTER
Leaders from the City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County, the State of Ohio, 3CDC, Visit Cincy, and several other project partners gathered in early July to commemorate the start of construction on the renovation of Cincinnati’s convention center, the first step in the city’s once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalize the entire Convention District. The celebratory event took place at the corner of Fifth and Elm streets, with the existing convention center building as the backdrop. Project and government leaders spoke to the critical need for the convention center’s renovation and the positive impact it will have on Cincinnati and the surrounding region. The event concluded with the ceremonious demolition of a section of granite at the building’s entrance.
Since the construction kickoff, crews have made steady progress on the convention center’s interior and exterior demolition, with much of the work focusing on the Fifth Street building façade and select areas of building Levels 1 and 2. Next week, crews will start exploratory demolition work surrounding the Albee Arch to confirm the previous scanning results. The arch will then be removed in pieces and returned to the City of Cincinnati for storage. PAYCOR HEADQUARTERS
Façade demolition is now largely complete at Paycor headquarters, and crews are making steady progress on work throughout the building’s interior. The construction team is infilling the old escalator’s opening between Levels 1 and 2 with steel. Installation of both a new sprinkler system and HVAC ductwork is ongoing, and crews are currently completing framing work for tenant demising walls.
