Dry Cleaner will be newest tenant in 3CDC’s multi-site, mixed-use development
CINCINNATI (December 1, 2022) – A much-needed service is opening in the urban core in one of the buildings recently renovated as part of the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC)’s Willkommen project. Heritage Glen dry cleaners will operate out of the 454 square-foot space at 1445 Walnut Street in Over-the-Rhine starting Monday, Dec. 5.
Heritage Glen has been in operation for more than 25 years out of its original home in the Kenwood neighborhood. Its OTR location will be its second and will act as a pickup/drop-off service, with all work being done at the Kenwood site.
Heritage Glen owner Dion Jackson got into dry cleaning as a senior in high school, where he took a fabric services class and learned the craft. Whether it was part- or full-time, he’s worked at plenty of dry cleaners throughout Cincinnati, moving up from presser to franchise owner of his first space in 2003.
“There are no full-service dry cleaners downtown,” said Jackson. “We do great work and we’re looking forward to expanding our business to serve a new geography and clientele.”
Heritage Glen will be a cashless prepaid operation that offers a two-day turnaround time on dry cleaning. Shirts will cost $1.75 and pants will cost $7.43, making it comparable to other dry cleaners outside of Downtown. Its hours will be conducive to commuters who work, live or pass through Downtown: Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Residents and employees in the urban core have been asking for a dry cleaner for some time, but we struggled to find the right fit,” said Lindzie Gunnels, Senior Commercial Leasing Officer with 3CDC. “Dion’s successful history with Heritage Glen makes him an ideal partner, and we feel like his business really fills a need in OTR.”
Willkommen is a mixed-use project that contains 20,000 square feet of street-level commercial space scattered throughout multiple sites in Over-the-Rhine. It also includes a total of 163 apartments – 88 units (or 54%) available to people making 50-80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and 75 market-rate units. The apartments range from efficiencies to three-bedroom units.
