CINCINNATI (November 16, 2016) – A “style staple” in the college town of Oxford, Ohio since 2011, Lane & Kate will open its second brick-and-mortar store in Over-the-Rhine Friday at 11 a.m. Founded by sisters Rachel Pfeiffer and Jessica Greene, L&K will initially open as a pop-up shop, just in time for the holidays. Joining L&K in the same space will be Two Little Buds florists, the creation of Mindy Staton and Alice Francis. The mother/daughter duo began teaching floral workshops at the original Lane & Kate in 2015, and the pairing turned out to be a perfect fit.
“We realized botanicals, along with our artisan jewelry and gifts were a match made in heaven,” Pfeiffer said. “When we started talking about expanding to OTR, we knew right away we wanted Two Little Buds to be part of the new store.”
Located at 1405 Vine Street, between Pontiac BBQ and Continuum, the 1,147 square foot space is being leased from Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC). The pop-up shop will feature pieces from a variety of artists, as well as the gorgeous floral works of Two Little Buds. Visitors to the shop can expect to find beautiful handmade wreaths, unique succulent arrangements, terrariums, and topiaries. Lane & Kate will remain open throughout the holiday season on Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. In January, the shop will close for a remodel, before officially re-opening in February.
Both Lane & Kate and Two Little Buds have a deep appreciation for local, sustainable products and put true emphasis on creativity and originality. Like its Oxford location, the new L&K store will be adorned with unique, handmade jewelry, gifts and accessories and will feature fresh arrangements, plants and a “flower bar” where guests can create their own bouquets.
Each piece of jewelry tells a story – where it came from or the hands that made it – and Pfeiffer and Greene work hard to ensure every item is made by local, domestic, independent artists. The sisters are prideful and confident in the high-quality, wearable artwork they present to their customers, and those feelings are shared by the loyal customers who wear their jewelry.
In addition to unique items and floral arrangements available in the store, the partnership between Lane & Kate and Two Little Buds lends itself perfectly to wedding styling. L&K has teamed up with some of the most talented jewelry artists in the nation to offer unique engagement rings, and the Oxford shop is known for event styling, wedding bands, ring cleaning and resizing, as well as a vast offering of wedding gifts. And, with Two Little Buds operating in-house, the boutique will serve as the perfect spot to find wedding florals.
Two Little Buds will also be starting a floral CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program. From spring to fall, customers will be able to subscribe to pick up fresh, straight-from-the-farm bouquets on a weekly basis. Staton believes Cincinnatians will love having access to local, seasonal blooms through the program, and she hopes it will provide the shop owners with another way to connect with members of their new community.
“Both Two Little Buds and Lane & Kate are thrilled to expand to a neighborhood like OTR that has such appreciation for local, sustainable products and puts so much emphasis on creativity and originality,” Staton said.
