Bar Concept Near Ziegler Park Sets Opening Date

Ziggy’s to Celebrate Grand Opening This Weekend

CINCINNATI (May 24, 2024) – Just steps from Main Street, visitors to Ziegler Park will soon have a place to relax and unwind with a beverage in hand when taking a break from the sun or the pool. Ziggy’s, which is “not your average dive bar,” is adjacent to Ziegler Park and will celebrate its grand opening Memorial Day weekend starting tomorrow, May 25 at 12 p.m. at 213 Woodward Street in Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC)’s Willkommen project.

Ziggy’s will offer a full menu of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including frozen cocktails, canned wines, canned & draft beer, and Coca-Cola products. The space is bright, playful and lush, decorated with a number of hanging plants and other greenery. In addition to the indoor table seating and 15-seat horseshoe bar, beverages can be enjoyed in either of Ziggy’s dog-friendly patio areas – one of which has shuffleboard, and another that features outdoor seating.

Following years of experience operating both Fountain Bar, the semi-permanent container bar on Fountain Square, and the Sherwin-Williams Porch at Washington Park, 3CDC made the decision to manage Ziggy’s in-house with the organization overseeing its day-to-day operations.

“Situated alongside the expanded pedestrian-only park space within Ziegler Park and directly across from the pool, this is such a unique space,” said Emily Stowe, Senior Event Marketing Manager for 3CDC. “We recognized the opportunity to do something here similar to what we’ve been doing for years at Washington Park and Fountain Square. We’re excited to see the space come to life, further activating the park and creating new, enjoyable experiences for visitors.”

Although Ziggy’s will be a beverage-only concept to start, patrons are welcome to bring in outside food from neighboring businesses. 3CDC also plans to host pop-up food vendors outside the bar to give patrons new and different dining options. Ziggy’s will be open Wednesday through Friday from 3-9PM, Saturday from 12-9PM and Sunday from 12-8PM. The bar will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. Patrons are encouraged to utilize the surrounding amenities but will not be permitted to carry alcoholic beverages from Ziggy’s into the park or pool.

While Ziggy’s is adjacent to Ziegler Park, it is part of 3CDC’s Willkommen project, a collaboration with Model Group. The $51 million mixed-use, scattered-site development yielded 163 apartments (88 affordable to those making 60-80% of the Area Median Income) and 19,500 square feet of commercial space. Ziggy’s will be opening in one of four infill buildings developed as part of the project, which also included the renovation of 16 historic buildings.
