Holtman’s Donuts to Open New Shop in OTR
“Dessert comfort food” caters to early risers and late-nighters alike
CINCINNATI (Tuesday, May 14, 2013) – Three generations of bakers in the Holtman family have perfected the ideal “dessert comfort food” and are bringing it to Over-the-Rhine (OTR) this summer. Holtman’s Donuts signed a lease this morning at 1332 Vine Street on the ground floor of the Trinity Flats building at Mercer and Vine streets in OTR.
Charles Holtman started the business in 1960, and his daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Chuck Plazarin, now operate two Holtman’s Donuts in Loveland, Ohio and Williamsburg, Ohio. Toni and Chuck’s son, Danny Plazarin, will open the new location with his fiancé, Katie Willing, this summer.
Donuts will be made fresh daily on-site, and the shop hours will likely mirror those of the Loveland store, open from 4:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. some nights. “Sometimes a Friday night is busier than a Saturday morning!” says Danny, who claims that Holtman’s Donuts are not just breakfast food, but a dessert comfort food at all hours of the day and night.
This is good news for the evening crowds spilling out of Kaze, Quan Hapa, and other OTR neighbors of the soon-to-open donut shop. The Holtman’s Donuts website depicts delicious renditions of the kettle danish, apple fritter, custard puff, maple bacon donut, and more delectable delights to help finish off an evening or start the morning right.
