Mellotone Beer Project Will Host Interactive Art Installation by Kemper Sauce Studios

CINCINNATI (October 16, 2024) – Mellotone Beer Project is opening its doors to the public for the first time tomorrow for a sneak peek of the space and in celebration of BLINK. Located at 1429 Race Street in a 12,345-square-foot, three-story space owned by Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC), Mellotone will be home to Arcade of Light, an interactive art installation by Kemper Sauce Studios, from Oct. 17-20.

The Kemper Sauce installation, “Arcade of Light,” which has appeared during previous BLINK festivals, features a blend of gaming, art and engineering. Each piece was created to be both fun and approachable, with an exaggerated scale that imparts a sense of childlike wonder. Designed to include three different retro-style games which utilize LED light panels, the installation draws on the unique experience of the arcade.

“BLINK is such a distinctive Cincinnati event, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be part of it,” said Mellotone Co-Owner Alexandra Nowell. “This is a chance for everyone to stop by, check out our new space before it ‘officially’ opens and enjoy a few drinks while they venture through the neighborhood to see all the different BLINK installations.”

During BLINK, Mellotone will partner with Edible Schoolhouse – a not-for-profit organization with a mission to strengthen the local food system in Greater Cincinnati. The brewery’s BLINK festivities will raise funds to support the organization known for packing local food resources, essential kitchen skills and powerful nutrition information into educational programs that equip participants to make wiser, healthier food choices on a daily basis.

“The historic church that houses Mellotone is such an iconic OTR space,” said Lindzie Gunnels, Commercial Leasing Director with 3CDC. “It’s the perfect spot to host Arcade of Light and BLINK is the ideal opportunity to introduce the neighborhood to this creative new brewery.”

During the festival, which runs Thursday to Sunday, Mellotone will be open to the public from 6PM to midnight. Although Arcade of Light is not on the official BLINK map, patrons are encouraged to utilize BLONK, a ‘totally unofficial guide to all the good stuff at the BLINK Cincinnati art festival,’ to navigate to the brewery.

Following the festival, Mellotone will close its doors to complete the final punch list tasks that will complete the space’s transformation in hopes of celebrating the brewery’s grand opening in mid-November.
