Chrysalis Opens at Globe Building near Findlay Market

Organization works to propel corporate careers of people of color

CINCINNATI (January 24, 2022) – Chrysalis, an innovation center for corporate diversity with a primary focus on making it easier for people of color to thrive in the corporate world, has opened near Findlay Market and is operating out of the Globe Building, located at 1805 Elm Street. Chrysalis owner Jared Simmons signed a lease with Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC) for the 8,100-square-foot space Chrysalis now calls home.

Fortune 1,000 companies looking to invest in their employees can sponsor them for the weeklong program that offers career support and personal growth. Chrysalis will offer three programs aimed at people of color at varying stages of their careers. Those at mid-career, diverse suppliers, and newly placed executives. During the course of the three programs offered, attendees will work with mentors and specialists to hone their skillset, understand what they want out of their respective careers, and identify what steps need to be achieved to get there. All of this work is completed in a deeply humanistic way.

“This program is designed to be what I wish I had when I was in the corporate world,” said Jared Simmons, creator of Chrysalis.

Simmons is a corporate veteran and business consultant who also founded OUTLAST Consulting, an innovation consultancy focused on diversity management and product development, after innovation-focused roles at McKinsey and Company and Coca-Cola. He began his career in Research & Development at Procter & Gamble here in Cincinnati. Chrysalis – which means a state of growth – is a diversity management program under the OUTLAST umbrella.

“Chrysalis offers a unique and valuable experience by providing high-quality professional development to people of color in a simulated work environment,” said Lindzie Gunnels, Commercial Leasing Manager with 3CDC. “The Findlay Market area is already bustling with activity, and we’re confident that Chrysalis will add to the liveliness. As they bring in cohorts of professionals from around the country, this will also be great exposure for our city and the neighborhood, allowing people to see why Cincinnati is a great place to be.”

The program will occupy floors 1-3 of the Globe Building with plans to transform it into a highly technologically advanced space, evoking an atmosphere that allows for introspection, health & wellness and personal growth so employees have the tools and psychological support to forge their own path.

Completed in 2015, the Globe Building project involved the $4 million renovation of the one-time Globe Furniture Company into a four-story commercial space. The building is also home to French Crust Café and Bistro.
